ORGANISE IT
Out of all of the styles of art/ artists in which we researched, we were most inspired by the art "Tie and Dye". We decided to give it a go ourselves using a piece of material. Here we are practicing tying rubber bands and dying a piece of material. Tying the rubber bands was definitely a challenge!
We loved doing tie dye! We decided to make Tie Dyed T-shirts for our art expo.
We had to decide what style Tie Dye we wanted our shirts to be. We researched many different styles such as "Sunburst", "Spiral", "Stripes" or "Polkadots". We then practiced folding the T-shirts in different ways and tying the rubber bands with help from our Room 11 buddies.
Before folding the T-shirts, they must be soaked in soda ash. Soda ash helps hold the dye. We then dyed our T-shirts outside on the grass so that no fabric dye would get onto the carpet.
We left our T-shirts to sit for 24 hours in a plastic bag before rinsing and seeing the results. We were so pleased with how they turned out! We loved looking at the different styles and colours. We are all ready for the art expo!
Each week we look at a different artist and a different kind of art.
At the end of the week we have a go at recreating this style of art.

As a class, we discussed these facts about Andy Warhol.
Art inspired by Piet Mondrian
"Composition with Red, Yellow and Blue (1921)"
Piet Mondrian was born in Amersfoort in the Netherlands, in 1872. At a very young age his father Pieter and his Uncle Fritz, both artists themselves, introduced Piet to the world of art.
While Mondrian's early works represented the world he saw around him, his discovery of Cubism in 1911 guided him toward pure abstraction.
Mondrian continued to explore abstract forms eventually developing a style of painting he called neo-plasticism
Piet Mondrian died of pneumonia in 1944.
After is death, his paintings became so famous that other painters, advertisers, architects, graphic designers, and even high fashion clothing designers around the world copied his distinctive style.
