Phonics

In order to write, children need to know their letters and their letter sounds. This enables children to sound out words when reading and writing.

WRITING

Here are the steps that help teach children to sound out and write words.

Step 1. Say the word.
Step 2. Stretch it out.
Step 3. Write down the sounds you hear.

READING

Here is a video that shows you how to sound out words while reading.

Sound out words using letter sounds

Your child would benefit greatly if you practised this 'sounding out strategy' during reading at home.

Here are two videos we will be singing to at school so that we become more familiar with our letter sounds.

Another thing your child needs to know when writing is the different between capital and lowercase letters.

Thank you for all of your support.
